Each episode will bring together a diverse panel of speakers from academia, industry, and the arts to discuss the most pressing topics in this rapidly evolving landscape.

Reimagining Realities: How XR & AI are Redefining the Creative Expression

The series kicks off by diving into the fundamental ways XR and AI are reshaping the creative landscape. We’ll explore how these tools are not just augmenting existing artistic methods but are actively redefining what’s possible. The discussion will focus on the new creative formats that are emerging – from dynamic, interactive installations to autonomous digital art. We’ll examine how technology is blurring the lines between the physical and digital worlds (phygital), creating new avenues for storytelling and immersive experiences.

Panelists:

Mikel Zorilla (Vicomtech)

Dr. Mikel Zorrilla is the Director of the Digital Media & Communications department at Vicomtech, an associate professor with a PhD in Computer Science, and currently lead of the AMPLIFY project with expertise focused on interactive media technologies, media standards, and video workflow management.

François Matarasso 

 

François Matarasso is a community artist, writer, and researcher whose influential work, including the 1997 report ‘Use or Ornament?’, established key concepts in cultural policy; he currently co-hosts A Culture of Possibility podcast and is a partner in the AMPLIFY project.

Tupac Martir (SATORE Studio)

Award-winning, multi-disciplinary digital artist and Creative Director of Satore Studio, known for using ad-hoc technological solutions to deliver production design, visuals, and lighting direction for major clients, including Elton John and Beyoncé, while also pioneering innovative work in XR and Virtual Production as part of the TRANSMIXR project.

Alina Goldman (Institute for Sound and Vision)

Alina is the UX Design and Research Lead at Beeld en Geluid (Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision), specializing in creating immersive and virtual reality experiences to tell meaningful stories and imagining new interaction formats for cultural heritage, all while synthesizing insights from end users.

Creative Futures, Ethical Frames: Balancing Innovation and Integrity in Emerging Tech

As technologies continue to accelerate, so too do the ethical questions that surround them. This episode will tackle the critical balance between innovation and integrity. The discussion will explore the frameworks and principles needed to ensure that creative advancements are developed and used responsibly. 

Panelists:

Katrien De Moor (NTNU)

Katrien De Moor works as associate professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. She is passionate about user research and human-centred technology design, and has been working on a wide range of topics and projects in the past years. Her main research interests and activities are linked to human-technology experiences, novel paradigms and methodological challenges in this respect, digital ethics and broader ethical implications (e.g., meaningful human agency, power dynamics in design processes) of contemporary human-technology interaction. In AMPLIFY, Katrien is leading the work package on human-centric and ethical design.

Marie Hospital (AFP)

Marie Hospital is a journalist for AFP, the international press agency. She joined AFP in 1998 as a foreign exchange correspondent at the London office. She then spent more than 20 years in the video department as a deputy editor and video journalist. She worked in Paris, Rio de Janeiro and Rennes (Britanny) coordinating the video coverage of these different  regions. In 2022, Marie joined the team dedicated to European media projects. She’s in charge of projects aimed at fighting against disinformation but also projects focusing on innovation in the media sector such as TRANSMIXR. Marie is in charge of the News Media Use Case in TRANSMIXR and co-developped, with the project partners, a set of XR and AI tools for the newsrooms of the future.

Trevor Ó Clochartaigh (TG4)

Trevor is Director of Operations & HR with TG4, having previously worked as their Communications Manager. Before that he served as a Senator for 7 years. Central to the setting up of the drama series ‘Ros na Rún’, he has also worked on other TV productions for TG4 and RTÉ. He holds an MBS in Leadership, Organisational Development, Strategy & Innovation from the Irish Management Institute/UCC. He is a member of the EBU People committee and their DEI working group. He led the development of the EBU’s Neurodiversity toolkit as well.

Opportunities Beyond Reality: Exploring the New Creative Frontier

We will explore the opportunities that are being created at the intersection of art and technology. The discussion will feature artists and innovators who are actively pushing beyond traditional boundaries, discussing how emerging technologies can be leveraged to create new artistic formats and leverage on existing experiences. This session is designed to inspire, providing insights into the real-world applications and business models that are unlocking new possibilities in the sectors of art and culture.

Panelists:

Paulo Lameiro (CPL)

A Portuguese musicologist, educator, and creator from Leiria. After a brief career as a baritone, he led several music schools, including the Conservatório Nacional de Lisboa. Since 1992, he has focused on early childhood arts education projects from his birthplace, Pousos, such as Cradle of Arts and Concerts for Babies. He also organizes community-based arts projects like Opera in Prison. He is a founding member of the Institute of Ethnomusicology at Universidade Nova de Lisboa and was the executive coordinator for Rede Cultura, responsible for Leiria’s application for European Capital of Culture 2027.

Eva Sarasola (Last Tour)

Eva has been active in the music and creative industries since 2012. Since 2018, she has been the Head of Planning at Last Tour, leading strategic planning for major festivals and managing institutional relations. She is also a Music Innovator (Keychange program) and a member of the Global Shapers Bilbao Hub (World Economic Forum). Previously, she trained as an entrepreneurial team coach and lectured on the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) entrepreneurship degree at Mondragon Unibertsitatea.

Julien Castet (Immersion)

Julien Castet is a PhD-trained computer-music and human-computer interaction researcher and the Head of R&D at Immersion, a European expert in XR and collaborative technologies. He has led multidisciplinary teams and projects delivering immersive and innovative software and systems for industry and research. Julien serves as a reviewer for the French National Research Agency (ANR), Bpifrance, and the European Commission. He contributed to the EU Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda on Virtual Worlds and was elected to the Board of Directors of the Virtual Worlds Association.
